SHANGHAI: Pictures and videos of restaurants with bicycle chairs and tables are going viral on social media in China. Sitting there, fast food customers generate electricity by cycling, which also charges their mobile phones.

This unique project has been started by the world famous fast food company ‘McDonald’s’ from its two restaurants in Shanghai and Guangdong in China.

According to McDonald’s China, these tables and chairs are also eco-friendly because they are made of used plastic.

Underneath the seat of each such chair is a stationary bicycle with pedals attached to a dynamo that generates electricity when the pedals rotate and this electricity can be used to charge a mobile phone placed on a table.

Rotating a bicycle pedal consumes energy and allows a customer to burn their calories while sitting there.

McDonald’s China says its eco-friendly and health-friendly project is currently in its infancy. If the majority of the people like it, then other restaurants like “Eat, drink, reduce calories, make electricity” type tables and chairs will be installed in other restaurants.
