Palestinian film ‘The Present’ won the award for best short film
Palestinian filmmaker Farah Nabulsi’s short film The Present won the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Best Short Film Award.
Farah Nabulsi’s film defeated Eyelash, Lizard, Lucky Break and Crowe in the competition.
The Present tells the story of Yusuf and his daughter Yasmin.
Yousef is played by famous Palestinian actor Saleh Bakri, while Yasmeen is played by young actress Maryam Kanj.
The film has also been nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film at this year’s Oscars.
At the Oscars, the film competes with Doug Roland’s Feeling Throw, Elvira Lund’s The Letter Room, Taron Free’s Two Distant Strangers and Tomar Shoshan’s White Eye.
